Nigerian Breweries names new Managing Director, others to the Board

Nigerian Breweries Plc (“NB”), announced on Monday the appointment of Mr. Jordi Borrut Bel as its new and substantive Managing Director, replacing Mr. Johan A. Doyer who has been the Managing Director on an interim capacity since 16th June 2017. The appointment is effective 22nd January 2018.

According to a company statement, Mr. Bel is currently the Managing Director and a Board member of Brarudi S.A. in Burundi, a Heineken subsidiary. He is also a Board member of Bralirwa Limited, also a subsidiary of Heineken in Rwanda. He joined the Heineken Group in 1997, as a Sales Representative/Wholesale manager in Spain. He subsequently held increasingly senior positions in France, Slovakia, The Netherlands and again in Spain before his appointment as the Managing Director of Brarudi S.A.

Mr. Bel is credited with leading Brarudi S.A. through a very turbulent period, strengthening the company’s route-to-market and launching successful innovations.

NB also announced the resignation of Mr. Victor Famuyibo, its Human Resource Director from the Board effective 27th January 2018 when he would have reached the mandatory retirement age of 60. He would be replaced by Mrs. Grace Omo-Lamai as the firm’s new Human Resources Director. She joins NB from the Nigerian Bottling Company Limited (NBC), where she was the Director of Human Resources.

Mr. Hubert I. Eze, Nigerian Breweries Sales Director will also be resigning from the Board effective 31st January 2018 as he prepares to take up a higher role in the Heineken organization. He has been on the Board since 1st September 2010. He will be replaced by Mr. Uchenna Unigwe, who is currently the General Manager, Heineken East Africa, based in Nairobi. He joined the Heineken organization in 1989 as an Assistant Brewer.
