CBN grants forex waivers to five dairy companies to import milk; restrictions remain in place for others

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), on Monday, issued a circular granting foreign exchange waiver to five dairy companies to import milk into the country.

The companies which received forex waivers include FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria; CHI Limited; TG Arla Dairy Products Limited; Promasidor Nigeria Limited; Nestle Nigeria PLC and Integrated Dairies Limited.

Cadbury’s Oreo cookie makes Guinness World Records

Oreo cookie, one of the brands of Mondelez International, the parent company of Cadbury Nigeria Plc, has made it into the Guinness World Records.

In a statement, Cadbury Nigeria noted that the Oreo cookie brand reached a major milestone of $3.1bn in annual net revenues by the end of 2019.

Cadbury Nigeria posts higher sales and profits in full year

Cadbury Nigeria Plc on Thursday reported higher sales and profit for the full-year 2019.

The beverage giant said that sales grew by 16% in Q4 to $10.4bn and by 9.3% in full-year to $39.3bn.

Gross Profit grew by 3% in the twelve months to $8.2bn, driven by an 11% increase in cost of sales. Costs jumped by 27% in Q4 resulting in an 11% decline in gross profit for the quarter.

Nestle SA to invest 2bn Swiss francs in recycled plastics

Swiss food and beverage giant Nestle SA on Thursday announced an ambitious programme to invest 2.0 billion Swiss francs (1.8 billion euros, $2.1 billion) over the next five years to reduce its use of virgin plastics in favour of food-grade recycled plastics.

The company said it also plans to invest in new types of sustainable packaging to meet its target of making all its packaging recyclable or reusable by 2025.
