Football Great Rio Ferdinand visits Nigeria as part of a weekend packed events promotion by Guinness Nigeria

Former Premier Leaguer and a player with a huge fan base in Nigeria, Rio Ferdinand visited the country over the weekend at the invite of Guinness Nigeria Plc. The trip was part of the brewing company’s line up of events for the football star to help boost its Guinness Made of More campaign that is ongoing around the country. Part of the line-up included being part of a coaching clinic with local football teams, meeting fans and competition winners at the Guinness Africa Stadium viewing Centre event; and attending the Guinness Flavour Rooms for a full immersion of the Guinness brand.

FG, UNITAR, Guinness renew partnership to reduce accidents, deaths

The Federal Government, yesterday, renewed the three-year partnership agreement with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research, UNITAR and Diageo, parent company of Guinness Nigeria, aimed at reducing deaths and injuries through accidents in Nigeria.

The agreement was signed on behalf of Nigeria by the Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, while Mr. Baker Magunda, Managing Director of Guinness Nigeria and Mr. Nikil Seth, Executive Director, UNITAR, signed for the various organizations.

SON lauds Guinness Nigeria on good manufacturing practices as it receives MANCAP certification

The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has commended Guinness Nigeria Plc for adherence to good manufacturing practices.

The commendation came as the brewing company received certification for 24 of its products to the SON Mandatory Conformity Assessment Scheme (MANCAP) to provide assurance to consumers and guarantee compliance with the relevant standards.

Guinness Nigeria appoints Ajogwu, Gallagher as Non-Executive Directors

Guinness Nigeria Plc has announced the appointment of Professor Fabian Ajogwu, SAN and Mr. Paul Gallagher to its Board as Non-Executive Directors.

According to a statement released by the company, Fabian Ajogwu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, practices law at Kenna Partners; and is a Lagos Business School Professor of Corporate Governance. He is an Alumnus of the Said Business School of Oxford University, and an Alumnus of the Lagos Business School. He holds a Doctorate degree in Law from University of Aberdeen, Scotland; an MBA from the IESE Business School, Barcelona; and Law degrees from the University of Nigeria, and University of Lagos.

Guinness Nigeria Qtr1 profit surge on lower finance charge, productivity gains

Guinness Nigeria Plc, said its profit for the first quarter (Jul – Sept) surged 1,919% to ₦836m from ₦41.3m.  The surge was as result of an 83% reduction in net finance charge to ₦436m from ₦2.6bn in the previous year, benefiting from a ₦40bn rights issue the brewing company launched in 2017.

Guinness Nigeria pays-out ₦4.03bn dividend to shareholders

Guinness Nigeria Plc paid out a total dividend of ₦4.03 billion to its shareholders for the financial year ended, June 30, 2018, translating to a dividend of ₦1.84 per share.

Speaking at the 68th Annual General Meeting of the company, Chairman of Guinness Nigeria, Mr. Babatunde Savage, disclosed that the dividend represented an improvement of 318% compared to a dividend of ₦963.77 million declared in 2017.

McDowell’s No. 1 Whisky transitions to new name, Mr. Dowell’s

McDowell’s No. 1, the largest selling whisky in Nigeria and a brand produced and marketed by Guinness Nigeria Plc under licensing agreement from Diageo Plc, its parent company, has announced a name change to ‘Mr. Dowell’s No.1’.

Speaking on the name change, Temitope Adenle, Brand Manager, Mr. Dowell’s No.1, said, the new name was the overwhelming favourite of Nigerians who joined in a unique social media campaign for a name change which lasted for two weeks.

Weather, need for better planning forces postponement of second ‘Nigeria Beer Festival’

The Second edition of Nigeria Beer Festival billed to hold from September 25 to October I, 2018 has been shifted forward by one month and will now begin on October 25 to October 31, 2018.

Organisers of the event, On and One Events (001) Limited, explained that the postponement is to allow the rain to subside and guarantee a more conducive environment for participants during the festival.
