NBC marks World Environment Day with commitment to a pollution-free environment

The Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC), the Nigerian subsidiary of Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company (CCHBC) AG has reaffirmed its commitment towards a safe, clean and pollution-free environment. This was as the company led members of its staff and representatives from Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) in a beach clean-up activity which was held to observe the 2019 World Environment Day.

Nestle Nigeria lists initiatives taken to reduce plastic waste as it marks World Environment Day

Nestle said it has set a bold global ambition of making 100% of its packaging either recyclable or re-usable by 2025, as part of its pledge to play an active role in combating plastic pollution.

The company said it aims to help consumers dispose of used materials in the right way, while promoting a market for recycled plastics by continuing to increase the proportion of recycled plastics in its packaging.

Central Bank Gov pushes for better recycling of plastic waste

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, on Tuesday called for a better recycling of plastic waste in the country.

He made the proposal while speaking at an event to mark this year’s World Environment Day (WED) in Abuja.

This year’s theme for the World Environment Day is: ‘Beat plastic pollution’.

Announcing this in Lagos, the Managing Director, Mr. Ben Langat, emphasized that the company attained five years plus 175 LTA-free days on World Environment Day, June 5, 2018.

Nigerian Bottling Company Limited (NBC), the bottler of Coca-Cola products in Nigeria has reiterated its resolve to environmental sustainability as it celebrated this year’s World Environment Day.

While observing the global day for environment in Nigeria on the 5th of June 2017, the company participated in tree planting exercises, sensitization walks and other programmes in recognition of the environment and in line with the global theme for 2017 World Environment Day – Connect with Nature.

Diageo pledges commitment to sustainable packaging as it marks World Environment Day

Drinks maker Diageo Plc, celebrated World Environment Day on Monday with a renewed commitment to sustainable packaging.

The maker of Johnnie Walker pledged to increase its use of recyclable plastic packaging in place of glass bottles in a bid to meet its 2020 sustainability and responsibility targets.

In a supplemental plastic guideline released by the drinks maker titled Sustainable Packaging Commitments: Supplementary Guideline on Plastics, the firm vowed to increase its use of alternative materials and formats as part of its innovation agenda.
