CBN grants forex waivers to five dairy companies to import milk; restrictions remain in place for others

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), on Monday, issued a circular granting foreign exchange waiver to five dairy companies to import milk into the country.

The companies which received forex waivers include FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria; CHI Limited; TG Arla Dairy Products Limited; Promasidor Nigeria Limited; Nestle Nigeria PLC and Integrated Dairies Limited.

Arla Dano sets new Guinness World record on World Milk Day

Dano Milk on Friday in Lagos entered into the Guinness book of World Records after successfully organising the longest drinks-pouring relay.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event which involved 700 Nigerian youths pouring milk drink was organised to celebrate the 2018 World Milk Day in Nigeria.

Their successful effort broke the existing record for a similar feat carried out by 550 participants on Nov. 9, 2013 in Caracas, Venezuela, organised by the Coca-Cola Group.

FG sets up committee to create policy framework to boost dairy industry

The Federal Government said it has constituted a stakeholder’s committee to develop a policy framework to boost the dairy industry.

The Minister of State for Industry, Trade and investment Hajia Aisha Abubakar, said that the objective is to attract and achieve local participation in the dairy business; ensure local content development of dairy; encourage joint venture opportunities across strategic segments of the dairy industry and provide financial relief to boost local growth through the participation of women and youths in the sector.
