Singapore caps sugar levels in beverages

Big soft drinks companies have agreed to limit the sugar content of their drinks sold in Singapore to 12% by 2020 as part of the country’s effort to fight diabetes.

Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, Singapore-based Fraser & Neave and Yeo Hiap Seng, Malaysia Dairy Industries, Nestle and Japan’s Pokka have all agreed to limit the amount of sugar they use in beverages sold in the City-State, according to the country’s ministry of health.

Singapore conglomerate Fraser & Neave bids for Peroni, Grolsch

Singapore based conglomerate, Fraser & Neave (F&N) have expressed interest in acquiring SABMiller’s two European beer brands, Peroni and Grolsch, adding to a list of global companies that have shown interest in the brands.

The two brands are being sold by AB InBev, the world’s largest brewer and acquirer of SABMiller, in order to address European regulatory concerns about its merger with SABMiller in Europe.

Fraser & Neave operates food, drink and publishing businesses in Asia and formerly owned Asia Pacific Breweries, which it sold to Dutch brewer, Heineken NV in 2012.
