The Food, Beverage & Tobacco Senior Staff Association (FOBTOB) has expressed sadness over the increased rate of retrenchment of workers by employers in the sector.
The union urged the Federal Government to engage employers in the sector so as to halt the looming crisis the mass lay-offs in the sector may engender in the near future.
The National President, Food, Beverage and Tobacco Senior Staff Association (FOBTOB), Comrade Quadri Olaleye, has applauded the judgement of the National Industrial Court (NIC), ordering two Jos-based firms to recall 28 workers who were sacked three years ago for engaging in union activities.
The nation’s organized labour union warned on Wednesday of an impending job loss crisis of over three million workers in the food, beverage and tobacco sector of the economy over inability of companies in the sector to obtain foreign exchange to import needed raw materials for their operations.
