U.S. demand for Irish whiskey and Cognac growth in China help lift Pernod Ricard’s sales and profit in first-half

French wine and spirits group Pernod Ricard said on Thursday that half-year sales for 2016/2017 financial year rose 2% to €5.06bn ($5.40bn), driven by continued success of its flagship Jameson Irish whiskey in the United States and a return to sales growth in China, helped by its Martell cognac.

French spirits maker, Pernod Ricard said on Thursday that revenue for the full-year ending 30 June 2016 rose 1% to €8.7bn ($9.6bn), up from €8.6bn in the previous year.

The maker of Jameson Irish Whisky, Absolut Vodka and Chivas Regal Scotch Whisky, among others said that revenue growth was largely driven by 4% growth acceleration in the USA and a 1% lift in Spain.

The Cointreau Creative Crew is a philanthropic programme whose aim is to help women develop their freedom and expression by encouraging them to strive to make their dreams a reality. It is to be achieved through the global Cointreau Creative Crew campaign, which encourages individuals to ‘dream, dare, create’. It was launched last year in the UK and will give an entrepreneur a chance to receive a grant of €20,000 to pursue their creative project. Although the campaign is primarily targeted at women, it is also open to men.
