Lagos State, FBRA, Green Janitors Partner to Rid Badagry of Plastic Waste through Pick-a-Plastic Campaign

The Food and Beverage Recycling Alliance (FBRA) has partnered Green Janitors Sustainability Initiative to rid Badagry Community of plastic waste during three months Pick-a-Plastic campaign which was launched on Saturday, December 21, 2019.

The sensitisation for the campaign at Badagry, which was initiated by Green Janitors and LAWMA, commenced on Saturday, December 14, as part of efforts at reinforcing the Blue Box programme of Lagos State Government aimed at ensuring a cleaner environment.

The Food and Beverage Recycling Alliance (FBRA) has donated over six boats and equipment to the Lagos State Government through the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) and the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA).

Mr. Adekunle Olusuyi, Vice Chairman FBRA, who led the delegation of the alliance expressed satisfaction on the progress made so far with the partnership kick-off with Lagos state government through LAWMA and LASWA.

Lagos State Governor calls on manufacturers to find alternatives to plastic bottles

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has appealed to manufacturers to develop alternatives to plastic bottles and other non-degradable items, which are threatening the environment.

Sanwo-Olu made the call at an environment forum in Lagos, with the theme ‘’The earth, our business, our future’’.

Lagos State to address issues of consumption of unwholesome fruits, vegetables

Lagos State Government has commenced the process of ensuring that the fruits and vegetable sector in the State is sanitised in order to guarantee the safety of consumers.

To this end, the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA), in collaboration with other relevant Ministries and Agencies of Government, has initiated a project to ensure that the handling, packaging, and display of vegetables and fruits are done in accordance with acceptable standards.

Lagos to Partner FBRA to Rid Environment of PET Waste

The Lagos State government has indicated interest to partner with the Food and Beverage Recycling Alliance (FBRA) on the eradication of post-consumer polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles that are improperly disposed thereby blocking drainages and canals in our environment.

The Commissioner for the Environment, Mr. Babatunde Durosinmi-Etti, disclosed this through the Assistant Director of Environmental Services, Mrs. Tolulope Adeyo in an interview in Lagos recently.

Adeyo said the issue of waste has been of great concern and that any initiative to eradicate it, like FBRA’s waste collection and recycling scheme, is quite appreciated.

The Food and Beverage Recycling Alliance (FBRA), a group made up Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited, Nigerian Bottling Company, Nestle Nigeria plc, Seven-Up Bottling Company and Nigerian Breweries Plc has announced a partnership with the Lagos State government, through its Ministry of Transportation, to rid the states waterways of plastic and packaging waste.

Nigerian Breweries donates library to Lagos School

Nigerian Breweries Plc (NB) has donated a fully built and furnished school library to Randle Avenue Primary School, in Surulere Local Government Area of Lagos State.

The brewer partnered with the Rotary Club of Lagos in fully equipping the library and sanitary facility at the school.

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, paid a commemorative visit to Nigerian Breweries Plc on Tuesday, where he commended the brewer for its commitment to the economic prosperity of the state and the nation.

The Governor enjoined the company’s management to remain focused on excellent business practices and outstanding corporate governance. He congratulated the company on its 70th anniversary, noting that Nigerian Breweries has been part of the development of Lagos State since its creation fifty years ago.
