Food and Beverage sector urge government to implement policies favourable to manufacturing

Companies operating in the food and beverage sector, under the aegis of the Association of Food, Beverage and Tobacco Employers (AFBTE) have called on the Federal Government to pass laws that will encourage manufacturing in the country.

The call was made by Mr Patrick Anegbe, the President of AFBTE, who also serves as the Managing Director of Intercontinental Distillers Limited, at the Association’s Annual General Meeting held in Lagos over the weekend.

FOBTOB launches empowerment scheme for members’ children

The Food, Beverage and Tobacco Senior Staff Association (FOBTOB) has launched a N1million empowerment scheme for children of its members who graduate with first class.

The union’s President, Quadri Olaleye, who revealed this at a luncheon in Lagos in honour of the media for their support for the union’s activities, explained that the award of N1million to brilliant youths was aimed at promoting academic excellence.

The Food, Beverage & Tobacco Senior Staff Association (FOBTOB) has expressed sadness over the increased rate of retrenchment of workers by employers in the sector.

The union urged the Federal Government to engage employers in the sector so as to halt the looming crisis the mass lay-offs in the sector may engender in the near future.
