Coca-Cola HBC CEO Dimitris Lois passes on

Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company (HBC AG), one of the world’s biggest Coke bottlers and the parent company of the Nigerian Bottling Company (“NBC”) have announced the death of its long-serving CEO Dimitris Lois.

The company which is based in Zug, Switzerland said in a statement on Tuesday: “We are deeply saddened by the news of Dimitris’s death. It was a great privilege to know him personally and to work alongside him for so many years,” said Anastassis David, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Coca‑Cola HBC. “Dimitris will always be remembered for his dedication to our people and for the values he stood for.”

Coca-Cola HBC said on Thursday it was open to further acquisitions of juice, water brands or new territories, Dimitris Lois, Coca-Cola HBC CEO said following its Q3 update.

CCHBC, which bottles Coca-Cola products in 28 mostly European countries and Nigeria, said it was focused on driving a recovery in some markets that are struggling.

As this happens, we will become more active in M&A,” Lois said, noting that the company would be interested in adding water and juice brands to its business in existing markets.

Nigeria remains a strong market for Coca-Cola as robust sales offset woes in Russia

Coca-Cola HBC AG, the second-largest bottler of Coca-Cola products said that strong sales in Nigeria, Romania and Ukraine were more than making up for its struggles in Russia, the company’s biggest market, reports Bloomberg.

On Nigeria, “Obviously oil at $50 [a barrel] is not great news for them, but we have been focusing on the things we control,” said Dimitris Lois, the chief executive, who highlighted the company’s successful ‘Share a Coke’ marketing campaign in the country.
