CCBA to acquire stakes in Kenya’s Coca-Cola franchises

Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) is set to acquire stakes in two of Kenya’s Coca-Cola franchises. Centum Investments, a quasi-Kenya Government agency announced on Wednesday it has agreed to sell its 53.9% and 27.6% stakes held in Almasi Beverages Limited and Nairobi Bottlers Limited to Coca-Cola Sabco East Africa, the South African co-owner of CCBA at a cost of 19.5bn Kenyan shillings ($192.5m).

CCBA appoints new MD for Kenya, Mayotte and Comoros

Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) in Kenya has announced the appointment of Xavier Selga as its new Managing Director for Kenya, Mayotte and Comoros, effective 1 May 2019.

Xavier takes over from Daryl Wilson who has been appointed to head operations in Ethiopia as the Managing Director for CCBA in Ethiopia.

Coca-Cola to hold onto majority stake in CCBA as talks hit an impasse

The Coca-Cola Company announced on Monday it would retain its majority stake in South African-based Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) as talks to find a bottling partner(s) could not be reached.

The soft drinks giant had wanted to refranchise the bottling unit as part of its global plan to unload its capital intensive manufacturing and distribution operations to focus on its main beverage business and improve margins.

Coca-Cola to increase investment in Zimbabwe by $65 million

The Coca-Cola Company (TCCC) has pledged to increase its investment in Zimbabwe by US$65 million over the next three years as the Southern African country seeks to attract foreign investment following years of Western sanctions and the recent change in leadership.

The Managing Director, Coca-Cola East and Central Africa, Mr Ahmed Rady met with President Mnangagwa and Vice President Constatino Chiwenga separately on Thursday to discuss its plans and future investments in the country.

CCBA adds new $70m juice line at Kenyan facility

Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) has opened a new Sh 7 billion Kenyan shillings ($70 million) bottling line at its Nairobi Bottlers operation in Embakasi, Nairobi, Kenya.

The line which has a production capacity of 28,000 bottles per hour will be used to process fresh juices, iced teas and sports drinks. Also, the line is said to have created 24 additional jobs at the plant so far.

AB InBev completes divestment of interest in Coca-Cola Beverages Africa

Anheuser-Busch InBev announced on Wednesday that it had completed the sale of its 54.5% equity stake in Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA), the continents largest Coke bottler to The Coca-Cola Company (TCCC) for $3.15bn after customary adjustments, as announced on December 21, 2016.

CCBA was formed in 2016 through the merger of SABMiller’s African non-alcoholic beverage interest with The Coca-Cola Company’s South African operations and the Gutsche Family Investments, the owners of South African-based Coca-Cola Sabco.
