NAFDAC, Police intensify fight against producers of adulterated alcoholic drinks; raid markets in Lagos, Aba

The Lagos State Police Command said it has arrested three suspects involved in the production of fake alcoholic drinks in the Apongbon area of Lagos.

The Command’s Spokesperson, DSP. Bala Elkana, said on Sunday in Ikeja, that the suspects were arrested based on a tip-off received by the police.

NAFDAC makes arrests at site of illegal distilleries in Akwa Ibom

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) said it has discovered the site of an illegal factory in Akwa Ibom that makes and distributes adulterated alcoholic beverages.

The agency’s Director General, Prof. Moji Adeyeye, in a statement on Friday in Abuja, disclosed that the factory was discovered in Afaha Obong in Abak Local Government Area of the state.

Police arrest owner of adulterated wine, spirits and juice factory in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday raided the site of where unwholesome wines, fruit juices and spirits are produced in the Oke Odo area of Lagos.

The police said they arrested a 48-year old man, Uju Daniel Ughanzi, who they identified as the owner of the illegal factory.

Discovered in the one-storey uncompleted building, which also serves as Mr Ughanzi’s family residence were assortment of fake wines, fruit juices and empty bottles.

Trader arrested for producing adulterated alcohol brands

The Lagos State Police Command announced the arrest of a trader, Emmanuel Nwodo, for allegedly distributing adulterated alcoholic beverages in the Iju area of the state.

Nwodo, who is 38, was reportedly apprehended with chemicals suspected to be ethanol and other materials used in the production of fake drinks.

Police nab producer of adulterated wines and spirits in Lagos; shuts factory

The Lagos State Police Command have arrested the producer of adulterated spirits and wines of various brands at Ajuwon Market, Mushin, Lagos.

A 55-year old man, Benjamin Ojukwu confessed to being the owner of the factory where the adulterated alcoholic drinks are packaged and sold to the public at market price since 2005.

NAFDAC nabs eight involved in production of fake drinks

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) on Saturday raided the Ogbaru Relief Market, near Onitsha and arrested eight persons including a nursing mother who were involved in the production and sale of adulterated alcoholic beverages.

The agency shut three shops in the market and seized counterfeit drinks and production materials worth millions of naira.

NAFDAC busts counterfeit ring specializing in producing alcoholic spirits in Port Harcourt market

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), said on Tuesday it has uncovered a counterfeit syndicate operating out of the Mile-3 Ultra Modern Market, Port Harcourt and specializing in producing alcoholic spirits of different brands, both domestic and foreign.
