Beta Glass Plc has reiterated its commitment to completing its $30m furnace capacity at its Agbara, Ogun State plant on schedule in June 2020.

The Chairman of Beta Glass, Otunba Abimbola Ogunbanjo, said this during a meeting with the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo, CON in Abuja, on Tuesday, December 10, 2019.

He said the company had made considerable progress in engineering and construction works on the furnace capacity expansion and is on schedule to complete the project. He added that the new furnace would increase the plant’s production capacity by 35,000 tons per annum and create additional employment opportunities.

The Honourable Minister commended Beta Glass for the investment in their Agbara plant, assuring the company of the Federal Government’s support for the project.

The Managing Director/CEO of Beta Glass Plc and Frigoglass Industries (Nigeria) Ltd, Mr Darren Benneth-Voci, added that the incremental capacity would help the company meet the growing demand for its glass bottles and jars in Nigeria, as well as boosts exports to neigbouring West African countries.

He confirmed the introduction of Narrow Neck Press & Blow (NNPB) technology for the first time in West Africa, enabling Beta Glass to produce light-weight non-returnable glass bottles. The capacity expansion will also include an additional production line, improvements to existing production lines and new inspection equipment that would further enhance the plant’s operational efficiencies.
