A new teacher has been crowned the 2019 Maltina Teacher of the Year. Ezem Collins, a teacher at the Royal Family Academy, Abuja beat all contestants to win the covetous crown. Collins, a Civic Education and Christian Religious Studies teacher was declared the winner of the prestigious honour at the grand finale held on Friday, October 18, 2019, at Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Ghana’s Alomo Bitters maker counts losses as Nigerian border closure takes a toll

Ghana’s largest beverage manufacturer and maker of widely consumed Alomo Bitters in Nigeria is feeling the effects of the recent border closure by Nigeria.

Kasapreko Company Limited, a pioneer of alcoholic bitters in the Nigerian market said it has lost US$2m in sales following the closure of the Seme border by the Nigerian government.

Coca-Cola hails a strong third quarter as sales and profit rise

Coca-Cola on Friday reported an 8% growth in the third quarter, with sales rising to $9.5bn, from $8.8bn in the previous year.

The soft drinks giant said that its impressive results were driven by innovation, revenue growth management and improving execution. Price/mix rose 6%, which partially offset a 2% decline in concentrate sales.

Coke noted that consumers were drawn to healthier options like its Zero sugar Coke and smaller size cans. In the US, Coke zero sugar grew double-digit in volumes, while its 7.5-ounce mini-cans grew by 15%.
