Promasidor Management visits Ekiti State on Ikun Dairy Farm Resuscitation

Promasidor Nigeria Limited, makers of a wide range of dairy products including Cowbell milk, Loya milk, Miksi milk and others took its management on a working visit to Ekiti State to hold further discussions on the newly announced partnership between the company and the State Government with regards to backward integration and resuscitation of Ikun Dairy Farm.

CBN to expand forex restriction list on food items, echoing president’s order

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele, has said that the apex bank will soon add more items to the list of 43 items that are barred from receiving foreign exchange (forex) from banking sources.

Emefiele made the statement on the sidelines of the presidential retreat for new ministers in Abuja on Monday. He said that banks will not go back on the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari on food importation into the country.

No ban or restrictions on food imports – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday said there was no truth to a story in the Financial Times of London that his government has placed a ban on the importation of food items into the country.

The president also said that his recent directive to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) not to provide foreign exchange (FX) to food importers did not amount to food restriction.

NBC, Enyo partner to provide Coca-Cola products to consumers

The Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC), bottlers of Coca-Cola products said it has partnered with Enyo Retail & Supply Limited, a downstream oil and gas firm to boost customer experience through the provision of the NBC chillers at selected Enyo service stations nationwide.

According to the NBC, the collaboration aligns with Enyo’s vision of making its retail outlets one-stop centres where customers can do more than fuelling their cars.

President Buhari orders CBN to halt Forex provision for food imports

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to stop making foreign exchange available to food importers, saying that the directive is to ensure the steady improvement in agricultural production and to attain full food security.

The statement was made while the president hosted his party’s, All Progressive Congress (APC) governors to eid-el-Kabir lunch at his country home in Daura, Kastina State.

Heineken to expand capacity in South Africa brewery as its market grows

Heineken NV has announced it will spend US$67m in South Africa to expand capacity at its Sedibeng brewery.

The company produces ciders and beer at the brewery it co-owns with Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL). Some of its brands include Heineken, Amstel, Windhoek and Strongbow. The plan is to enlarge the brewery’s capacity from 5.3m hectoliters to 7.5 million hectoliters per year to accommodate demand.

Cream liqueur is experiencing renewed growth in Nigeria, spurred by increased interest by consumers, particularly women. It is a favourite of women because it is a type of alcoholic spirits for people who do not like alcohol. The flavour variants and cream masks the taste of whisky or other distilled spirits, and compared to other spirits categories, the alcohol base volume (ABV) is usually tame, between 13% – 17%, which is more tolerable for the target market. Also, the drink does not require a mixer to consume. It can be consumed straight out of the bottle either chilled or with ice.

Both sponsors are said to have taken notice of the importance of the festival celebrated annually in Ado-Ekiti, South West Nigeria.
