Two arraigned for stealing 93 cartons of beer

The police on Thursday arraigned two men before an Ikeja, Lagos Chief Magistrate court for stealing 93 cartons of beer valued at N180,000.

The two, Ebuka, 24, and Olalekan, 25 were charged with two counts of conspiracy and stealing.

The Prosecutor, ASP Benson told the court that the defendants committed the crime on 29th March at 4:00PM in Mushin, Lagos.

Benson alleged that the defendants conspired with others still at large to steal 93 cartons of Trophy Lager beer, property of one Igwilo.

He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 287 (1) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015 (Revised).

The Chief Magistrate, Olufunke Sule-Amzat, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N100,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.

Sule-Amzat ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed and must show evidence of tax payments to the Lagos State Government as part of bail conditions.

The magistrate fixed the trial date for 30th May.
