The Delta State Police Command said it has apprehended a 39-year old man, Ugochukwu Alozie, who runs a shop where counterfeit alcohol spirits, including Red Label are produced in the Warri area of the state.
The suspect who has been operating the illicit business for years was said to have been responsible for much of the alcohol spirits distributed within Warri and other parts of the state. He was caught by the Divisional Police Officer, ‘B Division’, Mr. Aniete Eyoh, a Chief Superintendent of Police.
While speaking to the media, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim, said that the suspect was caught red handed with bottles, cartons and 25-litres of Ethanol used in making the illicit drinks.
Alozie was said to have been video recorded during the arrest, where he was seen producing the adulterated drinks and he has confessed to the police admitting that he has been in the business for years.
