Nestle Nigeria Plc on Friday celebrated the 150th year anniversary of the company’s founding with a factory tour of its Agbara, Ogun State plant, with key stakeholders, in what the company described as “good nutrition”.

The tour which took place where the company manufactures Cerelac and Maggi Seasoning cubes gave Nestle an opportunity to discuss how its commitment to Creating Shared Values (CSV) meets some of the main societal nutrition and health needs of people in Nigeria.

Nestle Nigeria’s Country Manager, Mr. Mauricio Alarcon, who welcomed guests at the Agbara factory, expressed the company’s desire and readiness to continue to collaborate with relevant government department and other partners in addressing some of the areas of identifying baselines to improve nutrition indicators for Nigeria.

Some of the topics discussed during the tour covered areas like the ‘Health Indicators of under-fives in Nigeria’ as well as ‘Nestlé’s efforts to reduce micronutrient deficiencies in under-fives in Nigeria’.

Among the guests who attended the event was the wife of Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun, who represented the Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari and his wife Aisha. Others in attendance included Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye.

While speaking at the event, Mrs. Amosun said: “As Nestle continues to strive to distribute nutritional products across the globe, I look forward to us collaborating through my Future Assured Programmes”.

Nestle has had a presence in Nigeria for over 50 years. The company has three production plants – Agbara, Ogun State; Flowergate and more recently a water bottling plant in Abaji, Abuja. The company said it supports local sourcing of raw materials and investments in rural communities. Nestle Nigeria employs over 2,300 people.

Nestle, the parent company is the largest food company in the world by revenue and some of its products in Nigeria include Milo, Nido, Cerelac, Nutrend, Golden Morn, Nescafe Coffee, Maggi cubes, among others.
