Champion Breweries earnings decline 38% in Q3 despite strong growth

Champion Breweries Plc, the Akwa Ibom-based brewer said on Tuesday that net income fell 38% in the third quarter ending 30th September, due to higher production costs and a spike in selling and distribution expenses. Cost of sales rose 30% in the third quarter to N636m, from N489m in the same period last year.

GSK Consumer Nigeria earnings sink amid FX loss

GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Nigeria Plc (“GSK Consumer Nigeria Plc”) on Friday reported a net loss of N4bn for the 9-months ending 30th September 2016.

The company which in October finalized the sale of its drinks business (Lucozade and Ribena) including bottling and distribution to Suntory Beverage and Food Nigeria Limited cited unrealized foreign exchange loss of N6.5bn caused by the impact of Naira devaluation for its poor performance.

Coca-Cola, Heineken, Lord’s Dry Gin shine at ADVAN Award

Beverage brands won big at the just concluded 2016 edition of the Advertisers Association of Nigeria Award (ADVAN) for Marketing Excellence.

While the top prize (Brand of the Year Award) went to Indomie Noodles, Coca-Cola was right behind in the second place in what was considered a closely contested race. Coke won six trophies at the annual event including first place in Digital/Social Media Marketing, Innovation and Experiential Marketing.
