Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC), the bottler of Coca-Cola products in Nigeria has built and commissioned a community centre in Ogwofia Owa community in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State. The commissioning which took place on 19th October was attended by top State Government officials, community leaders and various youth and women groups.
A statement signed by NBC Legal, Public Affairs and Communications Director, Mrs. Sade Morgan said:
“NBC is committed to improving the social and economic condition of communities where the Company operates, hence the donation of this community hall in Ogwofia Owa.
“The success of the Community Hall project is a product of deliberate and useful engagement between community stakeholders and NBC, which was facilitated by the Enugu State Government, through the Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources”. Mrs. Morgan urged the community to take good care of the facility and make good use of it.

While speaking at the event, the traditional ruler of the community, His Royal Highness Igwe Tom inyiama, the Ogwugwu Ebenebe I of Ogwofia Owa Kingdom stated that “the people of Ogwofia Owa Community are indeed very grateful and happy that NBC has immensely supported development of the Community that hitherto had a legacy of relying on self-help and cooperative support for its growth and development”.
Also speaking at the event, the Enugu State Commissioner for Environment and Mineral Resources, Amb. Fidel Ayogu commended NBC for the project, saying that it has added to the development of the community. He expressed gratitude to the company for partnering with the ministry to promote environmental sustainability. He urged the community to make judiciously use of the facility and create an enabling environment for other companies in the state to do their business.
The newly commissioned community Hall will serve as a multipurpose centre for community events and special occasions.
