Guinness Nigeria Plc has expressed an interest in partnering with the Benue State Government to increase local sourcing of raw materials for its operations and would consider working with local farmers towards meeting that goal.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Governor of Benue State, Dr. Samuel Ortom at Government House, Markurdi, the Managing Director of Guinness Nigeria, Mr. Peter Ndegwa, said that as Nigeria’s only total alcohol beverage company, Guinness Nigeria is proud of the strong partnerships it has forged with governments over the years, and will continue to run its business in a responsible manner that will create wealth for all Nigerians.

Ndegwa was accompanied on the visit by Guinness Nigeria Corporate Relations Director, Sesan Sobowale, Internal Communications and Employee Engagement Manager, Toni Anne Uwaifo, Oxfam’s head of programme, Mr. Constant Tchona and other officials of both organisation, who had come to the state to commission a solar-powered water and sanitation facilities in the Tyowanye Community in Benue. The facility was donated by Guinness Nigeria as part of its corporate commitment to providing safe and clean water to deserving communities.

While receiving the MD of Guinness Nigeria and other top officials of the company and Oxfam, Dr. Samuel Ortom lauded the company’s achievements in the manufacturing sector and thanked them for the social investments it has made in the state while calling on other corporate bodies to emulate the company.

The visit was capped with an induction of the Managing Director as a honourary member of the Tiv nation by the Governor who dressed Mr. Ndegwa in Tiv attire, an honour he said that is usually reserved for friends of Benue State.
