Star Lager announces more partnerships with five European clubs

Star Lager Beer, a product of Nigerian Breweries Plc, on Wednesday August 31, 2016 announced an unprecedented partnership with five European football clubs – Arsenal, Juventus, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germaine and Manchester City.

Present at the big announcement were influential sports personalities, media and entertainment industry figures,who saw the official signing ceremony. Notable football officials such as Chairman, League Management Company, Shehu Dikko; First Vice President NFF, Seyi Akinwunmi; Football legends Kanu Nwankwo; Jay-Jay Okocha as well as Barrister Isaac Danladi, and Hon. Nduka Irabor were in attendance.

Also present were officials from Nigerian Breweries Plc., Nicolaas Vervelde, Managing Director, Nigerian Breweries Plc; Franco Maria-Maggi, Marketing Director, Nigerian Breweries Plc; Tokunbo Adodo, Portfolio Manager, National Premium, Nigerian Breweries Plc; Kufre Ekanem, Corporate Affairs Adviser, Nigerian Breweries Plc and Edem Vindah, Media & Public Affairs Manager, Nigerian Breweries Plc, including representatives of the five European football clubs.

The announcement comes just a few days after Star announced a similar partnership with the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).

The partnership makes Star the “Official Beer Partner” of these five European clubs, giving the brand the rights to promote its association with the club sides in Nigeria’s foremost beer brand, bringing a new football experience to consumers and loyal fans of these clubs.

The partnership which is a first of its kind in Nigeria by a beer brand will see Star Lager actively engage consumers and fans with series of cross-promotional events and communications materials designed to enhance visibility of the European clubs in Nigeria.

In addition, the partnerships will have Star organize digital amplification for the European clubs in Nigeria, including digital promotions to drive viewership as well as providing outdoor amplification of the clubs and billboards.

Nigerian Breweries Plc, the brand owners of Star Lager beer said that advertising budgets will benefit the domestic media market as radio, television and newspaper houses will participate in Star’s amplification of matches and extended activities with their club partners.

In the future, a bottle of Star Lager would symbolize more than just another beer; it would mean a communion between a fan and the pride, history and colours of their favourite club side.

The evening was spiced-up with performances from Dbanj, Darey Art Alade and Kaffy, who thrilled guests with best of their recordings. Other entertainment personalities that graced the occasion include Uti Nwachukwu, Ehiz, Lafup, Faithia Balogun-Williams, Stephanie Coker, Destiny Amaka, Hype-man Jimmy, DJ Neptune, Mozez Praiz, Olisa Adibua, Sound Sultan, and Patric.
