It was all bubbles and clicking of wine glasses on Friday 15th July as the Wines of South Africa held its 2016 Grand Tasting Event. The wine show which is in its fourth year held at the Liquid Hub in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The event is meant to present South African wines to Nigerians in the trade, business executives, media and wine lovers to an evening of wine tasting.
This year’s event had just six wine companies in attendance unlike previous events that had up to 25 companies in participation.
The Grand Tasting was preceded by a wine education course. The course was meant to “help create Ambassadors for South African wines,” says Mathome Mbatha, Market Manager, Africa, Wines of South Africa (WOSA).
Aderonke Sobodu, who is the event organizer, said she believes the event is about “getting the right message out to consumers, making sure we understand how wine culture and lifestyle works”.
Some of the dignitaries that graced the occasion include former Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Emeka Anyaoku.
