Coca-Cola HBC set to launch Monster Energy drink in Nigeria

Coca-Cola HBC, the bottler of Coca-Cola products in Nigeria has said it will introduce Monster Energy brand in Nigeria in the second-half of this year.

Speaking to analysts at the company’s Q1 trading update, CEO Dimitris Lois, said Monster would launch in “late Q3, early Q4”.

Coca-Cola HBC, said that weak currencies in emerging markets and a strong Euro combined to hit revenue in the first quarter of 2016. It noted that if the effect of currency movements were removed, sales would have risen 2%.

The bottler of Coca-Cola brands in 28 countries including Nigeria said that net sales revenue fell 2.7% to €1.32bn, from €1.35bn in the same period a year ago. Volume growth for the group was flat at 439m cases, helped by increases in developing and emerging markets.

International Breweries, the Ilesha-based brewer owned by SABMiller, said on Tuesday that its revenue for the quarter ending March 31 2016 rose 13% to N23.3bn, from N20.6bn for the same period in the previous year.
