Euro Global Food & Distilleries Ltd, makers of Savanna soft drinks, alcoholic-mix ready-to-drinks (RTDs) and spirits have launched a new multi-billion naira ethanol plant at the company’s facility in Ota, Ogun State.
The plant which took six years to build is said to be the largest single ethanol plant in Nigeria with a maximum production capacity of 120,000 litres daily, more than enough for the company’s daily needs. This means that the company can even export excess ethanol, the company chairman, Arjan Mirchandani, said.
On the same day as the commissioning of the new plant, the company also held its “Annual Distributors’ Forum”. The event provides the company an opportunity to show appreciation to their best performance distributors and to inform them of new product developments as well as give them incentives to perform even better in the new year.
According to Felix Aigbobahi, Sales Director, Euro Global Foods & Distilleries, the award which held on Saturday was for 2014 top performers. It ought to have held much earlier but had to be postponed because of some difficulties. The 2015 Award is expected to hold in a couple of months, the company has announced.
Aigbobahi, said that although business had been slow in 2014 due to events surrounding the Nigerian elections, business picked up in 2015 and the company was able to meet its sales target. He added that “We are optimistic that 2016 will be a much better year because of some of the new improvements we have introduced and new products we are launching,” he said.
The event brought together 30 of the company’s top distributors, who were honoured with Certificates of Recognition, gift items and cash prizes for outstanding performances in volume sales as well as distribution of the company’s products. The prizes ranged from LED flat screen TV and cash prizes between N350,000 and N3m.
The top prize for the night went to Mr. Okolozo Jude Thaddeus of Golden Pillars Stores, who walked away with N3m in cash and Certificate of Recognition. It so happened that Mr. Okolozo also won the top performer in 2014 when he went home with an even bigger prize of N4.5m.

The company assured its distributors of bigger profit margin in the new year as it rolls out new products and gives older brands a makeover so they look more attractive. The company said that it will be more aggressive in its marketing as it plans to gain bigger market share in 2016.
The company chairman, Mirchandani, said that the company has introduced exciting array of brands into the market over the years and it has also invested in packaging to enhance the brand equity of their products. “That is why brand Savanna is now more recognized,” he said.
“We have taken giant strides in the last few years, from increase in product portfolio to increase in the quality of packaging. We want to assure our partners that we will make our products available to them,” the chairman said.
The high point of the day was the unveiling of Power Bitters, a new herbal drink from the stables of Euro Global Foods & Distilleries. The Managing Director of Euro Global, Mr. Manish Uniyal, said, “With the introduction of this product comes a new relationship with a new set of stakeholders, which are the farmers who supply us the raw materials for the production of Power Bitters. I’m quite confident that we all have a great story to tell as we share the uniqueness of our traditional herbs with the world.”
One of the top distributors of the company at the Award night, Mr. Emma Okpata, owner of China Stores, commended the company for the award and expressed optimism that 2016 would be a bigger year for Euro Global and her distributors.
