Guinness Nigeria Plc denies NAFDAC allegations

Guinness Nigeria Plc has come out to deny allegations levelled against it by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

In a letter published by the Punch Newspapers, Guinness said it was in receipt of the letter from NAFDAC and the demand for the payment of N1bn for certain alleged regulatory infractions.

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has ordered Guinness Nigeria Plc to pay N1bn “as administrative charges for various clandestine violations of NAFDA rules, regulations and enactments over a long period of time.”

In a letter addressed to the Managing Director of Guinness Nigeria Plc by the Head of Investigation and Enforcement, NAFDAC, Mr. Kinglsey Ejiofor and published by the Punch Newspapers, the agency requested for the payment of the N1bn as administrative charges for infractions such as the destruction activities carried out by the company without the authorization and supervision of the agency.

AB InBev formally agreed to buy its smaller rival, SABMiller on 11th November, in a $108bn mega deal that would see it control 30 percent of global beer volumes.

While the brewer works out the finer details before the deal can be finalized, such as regulatory issues in some markets, there is the issue of how to resolve the ownership of their soft drinks assets. While both companies are known for their beer brands, they also bottle soft drinks in some key markets to complement their products.

Nestle Nigeria Re-launches Milo with new ingredient, Activ-Go

Nestle Nigeria, makers of Milo has re-launched the very popular children’s breakfast beverage drink, with addition of a new ingredient, Activ-Go.

The event took place on Tuesday, at the company’s Lagos headquarters. Activ-Go is made from Protomalt, a malt Extract made from malted barley grains, which provides energy and contains vitamins B, C and Calcium.
