International best practices is our hallmark, says NBC

The Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC), bottlers of the Coca-Cola beverage brand in Nigeria said they adhere strictly to international standards in their manufacturing operations and safety at their plant.

Speaking at a media tour of their bottling plant in Agidingbi, a surburb of Lagos, which was meant to familiarize the media with their internal operational processes, the NBC Head, Public Affairs and Communications, Mr. Uzo Odenigbo said that the company exercises due care in the manufacturing and processing of their products in a way that makes it a surprise that consumers still find reasons never to complain about their products, the flagship of which is Coca-Cola and Fanta.

Kasapreko makes a splash with launch of two new flavours

Kasapreko, the Ghanaian company that brought us the very popular Alomo bitters has launched two new tastes, Kalahari bitters and Carnival strawberry.

The launch was on Friday, the 26th of June, at an event at Club Escape in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Personalities and dignitaries from the entertainment industry graced the occasion. Among them were Ruggedman, Chuddy K, Weird MC, Rayce, Stunna Gee, JJC Skillz, Mbryo, Bond (Phyno’s manager), Destiny (Olu Maintain’s manager), N6 (OAP Cool FM), Femi TeeHigh, Olisa Adibua.

Diageo and Heineken part ways in South African, Namibian Joint Venture

Diageo and Heineken N.V have agreed to go their own separate ways in a joint venture they formed in 2004 in South Africa and Namibia three years earlier than planned. The joint venture was originally formed to counter the dominance of SABMiller Plc, which controls over 90 percent of the South African beer market.

Food, beverage employers warn of impending job losses

Employers in the food, beverage and tobacco sector have warned of looming job losses if the challenges in the business environment are not turned around.

Speaking on behalf of the employers at the 36th Annual General Meeting of the Association of Food, Beverage and Tobacco Employers in Lagos, the President, AFBTE, Mr. Paul Gbededo, said that manufacturers had losses in the millions of dollars since the devaluation of the naira in the past months.

NB Maltina launches Teacher-of-the-Year Award to celebrate teachers

Maltina brand, a non-alcoholic drink from the stables of Nigerian Breweries (NB) has launched a “Maltina Teacher-of-the-Year Award to recognize, celebrate and motivate teachers of Public Secondary Schools in all 36 states and the FCT.

The award which is being conducted on the platform of Nigerian Breweries – Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund, is meant to restore the pride and dignity of the teaching profession.

The Third Annual Wines of South Africa (WOSA) event in Lagos ends with a bang

The Third Edition of Wines of South Africa (WOSA) event took place on Saturday, July 18, 2015 on the grounds of the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

WOSA is an annual event organized by Spronks Creation, in conjunction with the South African wine industry. Spronks is a Nigerian Event Management Company with focus on Wines & Spirits support services. It is headed by Ronke Sobodu, who also organizes the annual Nigeria International Wine and Spirit Fair (NIWSF).

Beverage Industry Continues to Grow Amid Uncertainty

The Nigerian Beverage Industry will continue to experience growth amid uncertainties in the economy.

The economy is beset by a host of macro-economic headwinds, from drop in oil price to devaluation of the naira, rising inflation, a weakened consumer confidence and an insurgency in the North of the country that is going into its seventh year. With that said, we still feel that the beverage industry has a bright prospect. Some sectors will fair better than others.

7Up posts higher profits on aggressive market penetration

Seven-Up Bottling Plc’s year end results shows the company’s aggressive market penetration across various product lines as profit nudged up to 10.64 percent despite a hard biting economic environment that has seen stunted growth in consumer product firms in the country.

The company declared a profit of N7.12 billion for the year ended March 2015, compared with N6.43 billion, a year ago. Sales were up by 5.93 percent to N82.45 billion.

The growth in sales was attributed to the company’s aggressive penetration in the rural areas than urban Nigeria. This gave the company higher market leverage than newer fringe players competing with the products in the cities.

NB extends its ‘Star’ brand with the launch of ‘Star Triple X’

As competition heats up in the beer segment of the alcohol beverage market, Nigerian Breweries has unveiled a brand extension of its flagship beer, Star. The new beer is called ‘Star Triple X’.

Star Triple X is the result of a painstaking research embarked upon by Star lager beer; which had the brand asking consumers what more it could do for them. Consumers echoed that they wanted “extra”. Star “listened” and then responded with Star Triple X.

Black Iguana, American ready-to-drink margarita blend enters the Nigerian market

They call it the Black Iguana, a premium ready-to-drink wine-based margarita cocktail manufactured in the United States with variants in lime, strawberry flavor, peach, coconut and Pina flavour.

Speaking at a media parley at the Protea Hotel, Ikeja, the President and Founder, DGI Beverages, manufacturers of Black Iguana margaritas, Mr. Earl Castor stated that the brand is a ready-to-drink refreshing beverage that does not require any mixer, blender or concoction.
