Court orders NAFDAC to compel NBC to warn consumers against drinking Fanta, Sprite with Vitamin C

A Lagos High court in Igbosere, on Monday ordered the National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to compel the Nigerian Bottling Company Limited (“NBC”), producers of Fanta and Sprite soft drinks to include health warnings on its label which says that the drinks cannot be taken with Vitamin C.

According to a report in The Nation Newspaper, Justice Adedayo Oyebanji made the order while delivering a judgement on a case brought before it by a Lagos businessman, Dr. Emmanuel Fijabi Adebo of Fijabi Adebo Holdings Ltd against NBC and NAFDAC.

NBC awards trucks to distributor partners in Abeokuta

Nigerian Bottling Company Limited (“NBC”), bottlers of Coca-Cola products in Nigeria has given out nine distribution trucks to its distributing partners in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The distributing partners received the trucks during a presentation ceremony organized by NBC directors in December 2016 at the company’s depot in Abeokuta.

The company said the initiative was part of its plan to grow, develop and satisfy the market in a more efficient and sustainable way.

Fire engulfs Coca-Cola depot in Uyo; Goods worth millions at risk

The Uyo depot of the Nigerian Bottling Company, makers of Coca-Cola, Fanta and Sprite was on Wednesday engulfed in flames with goods worth millions of naira at risk of being lost.

An eye witness, Mr. Charles Ekong, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the fire started from where the pallets are kept and soon spread to the entire packaging area.

Nigerian Bottling Company commissions Community Centre in Owa, Enugu

Speaking at a media tour of their bottling plant in Agidingbi, a surburb of Lagos, which was meant to familiarize the media with their internal operational processes, the NBC Head, Public Affairs and Communications, Mr. Uzo Odenigbo said that the company exercises due care in the manufacturing and processing of their products in a way that makes it a surprise that consumers still find reasons never to complain about their products, the flagship of which is Coca-Cola and Fanta.
