Nigerian Breweries targets 60% local raw material sourcing by 2020

The Nigerian Breweries (“NB”) Plc has said that it was making plans to increase sourcing of raw materials like sorghum, Food Grade Starch and others locally from 57 to 60 per cent by 2020.

Mr Patrick Olowookere, Corporate Communications and Brand Public Relations Manager, made the disclosure to newsmen during a facility tour in Ado Awaiye in Iseyin area of Oyo State on Wednesday.

Nigerian Breweries appoints Johan Doyer as Interim Managing Director

Nigerian Breweries Plc (“NB”) Board of Directors have moved quickly to appoint a new Managing Director to replace the departing Mr. Nicolaas Vervelde, who resigned last week having completed his tenure at the firm. His last day on the job would be on the 16th of June 2017.

In a statement released by the company on Tuesday, it said that the appointment of Mr. Johan Doyer will take effect on 16th June 2017 and would be on an interim basis pending the appointment of a substantive Managing Director/CEO for the company.

Nigerian Breweries Managing Director, Nicolaas Vervelde to leave post in June

Nigerian Breweries Plc, announced on Thursday that its long-serving Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Nicolaas Vervelde, will leave his post on 16th June 2017 to take up a new role within the HEINEKEN Group outside Nigeria.

Mr. Vervelde, who has been serving as the company’s MD for nearly 7-years, was formerly a non-Executive Director of the company before rejoining the board on 1st August 2010 as Managing Director/CEO.

In a statement released by the company, it said that “The Company has recorded several laudable milestones with Mr. Vervelde at the helm of affairs including the expansion of its operations through acquisition of additional Breweries.

Nigerian Breweries seeks increase in local raw materials sourcing to improve earnings

Nigerian Breweries Plc, said it would ramp up efforts to source local raw materials as well as look for further improvements in its sorghum value-chain as a way of lessening the impact of foreign exchange challenges it faced during the 2016 financial year.

The country’s largest brewer added that it would be consolidating its earnings and profitability through improved market penetration with its innovative products, noting that it would carefully look at its price adjustment mechanism to ensure a balance in the management of input costs and price consumers are willing to pay for its products.

Governor El-Rufai lauds Nigerian Breweries for its economic and social support in Kaduna State

Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai, has commended the Nigerian Breweries Plc for its role in the economic development of the state, noting that the brewer is the largest tax payer in Kaduna.

The governor who was at the recently concluded Kaduna Economic and Investment Summit (KadInvest 2.0) had stopped by Nigerian Breweries stand, and said that the brewer plays a big role in the state as far as investment and economic development are concerned and remains a concrete testimony of the friendly business and investment environment the state is promoting.

Price increases, cost efficiencies help lift Nigerian Breweries first quarter result

Nigerian Breweries Plc hailed a strong first quarter as price increases of its products and cost efficiencies it implemented helped the brewer start the year on a strong footing as sales climbed 18% to N91bn, and net profit surged nearly 10% to N11.4bn, from N10.4bn a year earlier.

“33” Export Lager unveils friendship party experience

“33” Export Lager Beer, a product of Nigerian Breweries Plc (“NB”), has launched a new initiative called “33” Export Friendship Experience parties to provide its teeming consumers an opportunity to meet with their friends and share experiences.

According to NB, it plans to host friends in popular bars and clubs around the nation and reward them with experiences to remember in honour of the friendships they have.

Nigerian Breweries commissions upgraded Ota Brewery

Nigerian Breweries Plc, on Wednesday commissioned its upgraded Ota, Ogun State brewery plant, as it seeks to consolidate its leadership position in the industry.

The well-attended ceremony witnessed the unveiling of a new PET line, a Water Treatment plant and a Waste Water Treatment plant, among twenty-one other infrastructural upgrades.

The event was graced by the Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, and former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, who was represented by Chief Abraham Idowu Akanle.

Star Lager adds FC Barcelona to its line-up of European football club partners

Star Lager, one of Nigeria’s leading beer brands from the stables of Nigerian Breweries Plc, has added Spanish football club FC Barcelona to its roster of European football club partners as it tries to deepen customer engagement in Nigeria among football lovers.

In a press briefing at Camp Nou, Barcelona, the beer brand announced the partnership, becoming the club’s “Official Beer Partner” or “Official Supporter” in Nigeria.
