Soft drinks industry likely to grow 15% in 2019 – La Casera MD

The Nigerian soft drinks industry is on a growth path after experiencing declines in the last few years, said Mr Chinedum Okereke, Managing Director of La Casera Company, one of the leading players in the sector.

NUFBTE urges beverage firm not to engage expatriates

The National Union of Food, Beverage and Tobacco Employees (NUFBTE) President, Comrade Lateef Oyelekan, has advised the management of La Casera Company not to allow foreign workers take over positions that are meant for Nigerians.

The union boss gave the advice when the new Managing Director of The La Casera Company, Mr. Chinedum Okereke, visited NUFBTE executives in Lagos.

The La Casera Company (TLCC) has announced the launch of ‘Full Option SKUs’ of its famous apple drink. The soft drinks company said that the unveiling of different sizes of the same product is to ensure that everyone can enjoy premium apple at affordable prices.

According to the firm, the flagship brand (La Casera Apple drink) is now available in 35cl, 50cl and 60cl PET bottles.

Future looks bright for the beverage industry – La Casera MD

The La casera Company, one of the leading soft drinks companies in Nigeria sees a bright future for the industry.

Speaking recently with the media, the company’s Managing Director, Roland Ebelt described the recession as a telling experience, noting that an industry that was once growing at a rate of between 5% and 10% per year since the 1990s suddenly came to a screeching halt due to a drop in consumer spending caused by the recession.

He noted that the depreciation of the naira had a profound impact on his firm and the industry as a whole as prices of raw materials such as sugar, plastic and other ingredients skyrocketed leading to record losses for industry participants.

House panel pledges to continue soft drinks probe

Majority Leader of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has said that the National Assembly has power to carry out an investigation into a matter involving privately-run companies.

Speaking as the chairman of the House ad hoc Committee investigating the production and distribution of soft drinks manufactured by the Nigerian Bottling Company PLC (NBC), and other soft drinks sold in the country, Hon. Gbajabiamila stressed that it was equally erroneous to assume that the National Assembly would halt a probe because a party involved had taken the matter to court.
