Nigerian Breweries mulls major changes to its Board as beer war looms

Nigerian Breweries Plc has scheduled a meeting for Friday, 8th December to consider making major changes to the composition of its Board of Directors.

In a letter sent to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Friday, the company said that “One of the items on the agenda is a proposal for changes in the composition of the Board of Directors (“Board”) of the company.”

Guinness Nigeria takes Smirnoff X1 on road tour to boost sales

Guinness Nigeria Plc, said it is resolved to boosting sales of its Smirnoff X1 brand by taking it on a nationwide road tour.

The company said that it has expanded its offerings by going into the local manufacture of spirits, adding that it recently launched additional brands such as Smirnoff X1 Intense Chocolate Vodka, and Gordon’s Dry Gin with Moringa Citrus Blend, while it has also started producing brands like McDowell’s, after obtaining distribution rights from Diageo’s United Spirits Limited.

Guinness Nigeria, FRSC partner to train drivers

Guinness Nigeria Plc, in partnership with the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) is set to organize a structured training programme for new drivers undergoing licensing by sensitizing them on road safety rules.

The Managing Director of Guinness Nigeria, Mr. Peter Ndegwa, made this known during a press briefing to commence the 2017 FRSC/Guinness campaign for responsive drinking during the ember months.

Guinness Nigeria off to a strong start in Q1 as revenue surge 30%

Guinness Nigeria Plc on Thursday reported a 30% increase in revenue for the first quarter ended 30th September 2017.

The Nigerian unit of British drinks maker Diageo Plc said that sales hit N29.9bn ($82.3m) in the first three months of its financial year, up from N23bn ($63.3m) it recorded in the same period in 2016.

Guinness Nigeria Plc has reintroduced its pioneer drinks catering service called ‘Party Serve’. The ‘GN Party Serve’ is designed to cater to events requiring drinks and drinks service such as helping professional event planners and party planning enthusiasts provide better service to their clients regardless of event scale or size.

At the reintroduction of the new service, Guinness Nigeria’s Marketing and Innovation Director (Guinness & Spirits), Adenike Adebola remarked that with the re-introduction of GN Party Serve, customers are welcome to a wide array of complimentary goods and services, including drinks, cooling services, a customized bar, and a team of experienced mixologists and hostesses.

Nigeria Customs applauds Guinness Nigeria on payments, vows stronger ties

Guinness Nigeria Plc has been commended for strong compliance and due diligence in remitting its tax and statutory obligations to the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).

Customs Area Controller (CAC), Lagos Industrial, Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Morenike Oladunni, made the commendation during a visit to the company on Monday, October 16, 2017. She said Guinness Nigeria’s impressive compliance with respect to the disbursement of excise duties is not only noteworthy but a reflection of its enviable corporate governance standards.

Guinness Nigeria N40bn Rights Issue oversubscribed

Guinness Nigeria Plc, said on Wednesday that its share sale to existing shareholders to raise N39.7bn ($126m) was oversubscribed by 116%.

The Nigerian subsidiary of drinks maker Diageo Plc said it sold five shares from the company for every 11 held by shareholders, at N58 naira per share.

Guinness Nigeria Makes Four New Executive-Level Appointments

Guinness Nigeria Plc has announced the appointment of four directors, as the foremost brewer re-energizes to optimize performance and execute its strategic growth plans. The appointments have taken effect.

The appointees are Bola Olajomi-Otubu, Human Resources Director; Colman Hanna, Supply Chain Director; Adenike Adebola, Marketing and Innovation Director (Guinness and Spirits) and Jody Samuels-Ike, Marketing and Innovation Director (Innovation, Lager, Consumer Connections and APNADS).

Guinness Nigeria appoints Mark Sandys to its Board as Non-Executive Director

Guinness Nigeria Plc, on Monday announced the appointment of Mark Sandys to its Board as a Non-Executive Director effective 30th August 2017.

Sandys, a long-serving executive of Diageo Plc with over 20 years’ experience has an MA degree in English and French from Balliol College, Oxford University in 1996.

In the over 19 years he has been with Diageo, he has served as a Senior Marketing Executive in different capacities including as Global Marketing Strategy & Innovation Director Baileys, Marketing & Innovation Director, Diageo Russia & Eastern Europe (based in Moscow), Category Director, Whiskey & Reserve, Asia Pacific.

Guinness Nigeria posts 23% revenue growth, returns to profitability in full-year

Guinness Nigeria Plc, said on Tuesday that revenue for the full-year ended 30th June 2017 grew 23% to ₦126bn ($348m), up from ₦102bn ($282m) in the previous year.

The maker of Guinness Foreign Extra Stout and Dubic Lager said it returned to profitability for the first time in four quarters, posting a profit of ₦1.9bn ($5.2m), from a loss of ₦2bn.
