Ghana’s largest beverage manufacturer and maker of widely consumed Alomo Bitters in Nigeria is feeling the effects of the recent border closure by Nigeria.
Kasapreko Company Limited, a pioneer of alcoholic bitters in the Nigerian market said it has lost US$2m in sales following the closure of the Seme border by the Nigerian government.
Danish dairy giant Arla Foods is opening a new sales and packaging facility in Ghana.
The new facility, Arla Foods Ltd., which would be based in Accra, will begin marketing the company’s branded dairy products in the country from September in response to growing demand for dairy products.
The facility will supply products from the company’s Dano brand, including powdered milk, butter and cheese from value-added brands like Arla and Lurpak.
Remy Cointreau’s CEO, Valerie Chapoulaud-Floquet, said on Thursday Africa’s contribution to the spirit maker’s revenue continues to grow and will soon be equal to 15% of Europe’s sales, up from less than 10% in the previous fiscal year.
Commenting on the firm’s full-year financial results, which saw the French spirits maker post an impressive 10.6% rise in profits, Ms. Chapoulaud-Floquet, said that Africa is like Asia 25 years ago, forecasting that the continent’s sales contribution to the firm will accelerate in the coming years.
Kasapreko Company Limited, Ghanaian firm known for its famous Alomo Bitters has unveiled a new state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Ghana at a cost of $70m.
The new factory is said to be equipped with modern machinery that would enable the company migrate to a total beverage enterprise. It is said to be equipped with high speed spirit production lines that can produce 70,000 glass and PET bottles per hour and two additional installed lines capable of producing 40,000 bottles of water and non-alcoholic drinks per hour.
