FG to review tariff increase on locally produced alcohol – Labour Minister

The Federal Government will review the recent excise duty increase on locally produced alcohol, according to Senator Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour.

In a statement signed by the ministry’s Director of Press, Samuel Olowokere on Friday in Abuja, while receiving members of the National Union of Food, Beverage and Tobacco Joint Employers and Workers Association on a Save Our Soul (SOS) mission, the minister said the Federal Government will review the newly introduced 500% excise duty on locally produced alcohol beverages.

FG assures manufacturers of access to FX

President Muhammadu Buhari have assured manufacturers in the country of access to foreign exchange in order to head-off job losses. The president gave the directive to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to prioritize foreign exchange availability in favour of manufacturers.

NUFBTE commissions second phase of Food Union Hotels amid pomp

The National Union of Food Beverage and Tobacco Employees (NUFBTE) celebrated the commissioning of the second phase of the Food Union Hotels and Suites, on August 12, 2016 in Ojodu-Berger, Lagos State.

The project which was conceived by NUFBTE was officially commissioned by Honourable Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, alongside the President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Dr. Ayuba Wabba.
