PepsiCo gets South African regulatory approval to acquire Pioneer Foods

PepsiCo Inc said it has received approval from the South African Competition Commission to acquire South African-based Pioneer Foods. The Commission has recommended to the country’s Competition Tribunal the approval of the proposed transaction in which Simba (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of PepsiCo, intends to acquire Pioneer Foods Group Limited subject to certain conditions.

PepsiCo, through Simba, supplies several ready-to-eat products in South Africa under well-known brands which include Simba, Lays, Dorito’s, NikNaks and Fritos.

The Food and Beverage Recycling Alliance (FBRA) has partnered Green Janitors Sustainability Initiative to rid Badagry Community of plastic waste during three months Pick-a-Plastic campaign which was launched on Saturday, December 21, 2019.

The sensitisation for the campaign at Badagry, which was initiated by Green Janitors and LAWMA, commenced on Saturday, December 14, as part of efforts at reinforcing the Blue Box programme of Lagos State Government aimed at ensuring a cleaner environment.

Onaghise will drive the various campaigns and initiatives of FBRA as a Producer Responsibility Organisation (PRO) to fruition, with her wealth of experience. This would further strengthen the recovery of food and beverage packaging waste in compliance with the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) policy of the Federal Government.
