CPC gets new head in major agency shake-up
President Muhammadu Buhari has replaced the Director-General of the Consumer Protection Council (CPC) and 22 other Federal Government agencies in what appears to be a major agency shake-up.
The CPC was formerly headed by Mrs. Dupe Atoki, who earlier this week released the results of her agency’s investigation on the level of additives contained in soft drinks produced in Nigeria.
Replacing Atoki is Mr. Babatunde Irukera, who will become the Executive Secretary of the Council instead of Director-General as it was called in the past.
According to published reports in some national dailies, Irukera is said to be an associate of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, and was a governorship aspirant of the All progressive Congress (APC) in the 2015 gubernatorial elections in Kogi State.
Since the election, he has been a consultant to the CPC.
