FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC celebrated its female workforce to mark 2017 International Women’s Day.

The forum featured two leading women in Nigerian business who are inspiring young career ladies on their journey of discovering themselves and struggling to strike a work-life balance.

Folakemi Adewole, a seasoned banker with over 29 years banking experience working in various institutions including Chartered Bank, First Bank and most recently, Citibank. Folakemi is the founder and CEO of Protiquette Consults and Paxhill Minerva Limited. Ore Famurewa, Director, Corporate Affairs FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC, with over 20 years experience in the dairy industry. The two women shared their story on how they have defined their purpose in life, withstood challenges on their journey to the top and ultimately lead successful careers.

FrieslandCampina WAMCO celebrated this day to demonstrate its recognition of diversity and inclusiveness. We believe that through diversity we are able to make better business decisions and deliver more elaborate response to our consumers and community.

Improving gender diversity is priority for the company. For this reason, the management of FrieslandCampina WAMCO has put forward various policies and initiatives including increasing the percentage of women in leadership position and in the general workforce, and providing support for nursing mothers through increased paid maternity leave days and conducive nursing rooms while at work.

The event marking International Womens Day was inspiring and had motivating sessions in line with the year’s theme of Be Bold for Change. The ladies shared ideas on how to improve work-life balance and pull each other up on their career journey.

International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.
