A new Retail Audit report released by AC Nielsen Retail Audit Data for Q1 2016 shows Hollandia Evaporated Milk, a product made by Chi Limited, take the lead ahead of Peak Milk Regular in the evaporated milk segment in the Southwest and Lagos markets, customarily considered the largest dairy markets in Nigeria.
The report stated that while Hollandia has been consistently gaining market, Peak has been losing ground. Taking a look at the AC Nielsen Retail Audit data for the last 12 quarters, Hollandia Evaporated Milk has increased market share point by 7.4 while “Peak Regular” has dropped by 7.9.
According to a source who would like to remain anonymous, “Hollandia Evaporated Milk is ahead of Peak in terms of market share in Southwest. In Lagos, the commercial nerve centre, Hollandia Evaporated Milk is reported to have more than doubled the market share of Peak. AC Nielsen Retail Audit data says Hollandia Evaporated milk has 33.9%, and Peak Regular 14.3%.
Hollandia has always being known for setting trends. In 2005, the handlers of the brand came up with the “Pop Pour Throw Pack”, which opened a new frontier in the small pouch sachet type pack in the market, thereby making evaporated milk affordable to everyone. And in 2007, they came up with a larger SKU tagged “Pour Cap Keep Pack” (215g). The innovation made it possible for consumers to reseal evaporated milk for later use.
Industry watchers and consumers now see Hollandia Evaporated Milk as a trend setter of modernity, innovation and quality.
